§01What to listen for

Garage began in a Montreal mall in 1975 and for most of its life it was the store next to the store you actually wanted to go into. Listen for what changed in the 2020s: the brand handed its aesthetic to its customers on TikTok, shortened its design cycle, and started producing the going-out top the algorithm was already asking for.

This is the flip side of the Dynamite episode. Same parent, same supply chain, opposite customer — and the lesson is about speed. A mall brand cannot out-brand a luxury house, but it can out-react one, and Garage's revival is a case study in reaction time as a strategy.
